Captain Little is one brave little mouse!
When Olympia’s long loved downtown toy store closed its doors in February of
2014, people said traditional brick and mortar toy stores were becoming a thing of
But our children, and one brave little mouse, would beg to differ.
When Captain Little (who was then encamped in an undisclosed location on an
undisclosed island in the Puget Sound) heard the news about the toy store, and
heard how sad the children were, she decided to do something about it!
Rallying her friends and shipmates, she set sail for Olympia on a paper boat, which
fortunately arrived to Olympia and not to the bottom of Budd Bay, because mice
don’t much like swimming in freezing cold water any more than people do.
In the wee wee hours of that August night, one by one Captain Little and her crew
snuck into the building on the corner of 5th and Washington, and while Olympia was
sound asleep, they set up a brand new toy store!
To the staff of the new toy store, Alana, Paul, Michael, Amanda, Em, Alayna, and
Kelsi, Captain Little left a cryptic note: “Please keep the toy store open for all the
children, some day I will be back.”
With Captain Little’s vision, our hard work, and so much loyal customer support,
your community toy store is thriving. Our aim is to make you proud, to make our
community children smile, learn and laugh, and to keep Captain Little’s toy and book
store open forever.
